Looking for New AmeriCorps Partners (2013-2014)
AmeriCorps VIP Looking Forward to Service!

The Service Learning Institute’s Volunteer Infrastructure Program (VIP) will be entering its third year in late August, 2012 when 13 AmeriCorps members join local agencies for 10-12 months to be spent building
the volunteer capacity of their host agency. The academic year of 2012-2013 will be the final year of the first cycle of three year-long AmeriCorps VIP programs. Even so, as the SLI welcomes our new AmeriCorps members, we are looking ahead to a hoped for additional three year VIP program for the Academic Years of 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.
For this second cycle of the VIP program, the Service Learning Institute will be looking for seven (7) or eight (8) new host partners. VIP partner agencies host AmeriCorps VIPs for one year periods, during which time the VIPs work to build volunteer numbers and volunteer capacity and to increase the number of CSUMB service learning students at their agencies. VIPs commit to 1700 hours of service for which they receive a modest living allowance and lots of professional and career development. For their part, host partners commit to providing ~$7,000 in matching funds, active supervision, and a time commitment to fill out AmeriCorps paperwork! New VIP partner agencies will be chosen from current CSUMB Service Learning partners dedicated to serving families and children affected by the current economic downturn. If your agency wants to be part of this great program contact: Laura Lee Lienk, AmeriCorps Supervisor.
AmeriCorps VIP host partners opening their doors this August to VIP members include: Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County, Community Alliance for Family Farmers (CAFF), Return of the Natives Restoration Education Program, Mearth, Chinatown Community Garden, Monterey County Free Libraries Literacy Program, Arts Council for Monterey County, Everyone’s Harvest Farmer’s Markets, Franciscan Workers/Dorothy’s, Imagine College/Seaside HS, and National Steinbeck Center. In addition, the Service Learning Institute hosts two VIPs who work with the SL2 and Purposeful Service Programs.
